Mirabella Love, passed away on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, in Henderson, Nevada, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and kindness. Born Brooke Gardberg in Chicago, Illinois, on July 5th, 1973, to Francine (nee Okun) and Jerome Gardberg, she was cherished by her family and community.
From a young age, Mirabella displayed a remarkable talent for poetry, winning an award at Frank Hammond Elementary in Munster, Indiana, at the tender age of 8. Her educational journey led her to Munster High School, Alexander Muss High School in Israel, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and Indiana University in Bloomington.
Throughout her life, Mirabella dedicated herself to service and philanthropy. She was an avid fundraiser for causes close to her heart, including Leukemia, AIDS, and the Jewish National Fund, in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Her passion for giving back extended to her participation in triathlons and marathons across the United States, in Alaska, Chicago, Dallas to Houston, San Francisco to LA, and Florida.
Mirabella was also a creative force, co-authoring, editing, and promoting the acclaimed book 'Live in Wonder,' for which she designed assorted merchandise for the book launch. Her professional background included working for Cap Gemini Ernst and Young in Dallas, IDEO in San Francisco, and the Jewish National Fund in Chicago, as well as founding and owning Urban Pilates in San Francisco.
An inspirational figure in her own right, Mirabella authored the empowering 'I Am That You Are Free,' touching the lives of many with her wisdom and insight.
Mirabella Love is survived by her loving father Jerome (Jerry) Gardberg, devoted mother Francine Okun Gardberg, brothers Erik and Mitchell Gardberg, sister Nikki (Chuck) Gardberg-Eberle, cousins Dean Okun, Randi Okun Kowal, Amy Okun Lomanto, Candy Royden, Judge Stacy Okun Wiese, Dr. Michele Okun, Tejah Okun Carbone, Daniel Okun, Bryan Okun, Shelby Okun Caparelli, Jodi Gardberg, Mindy Gardberg, Mark Gardberg, Lori Gardberg Gross, Jill Gardberg Head, Jana Gardberg Smith, and Steve Gardberg, and uncles Jeff (Dianne) Okun, Marshall (Jill) Okun, Frank (Cheryl Okun Drucker) Okun, Dr. Leonard (Susan) Gardberg, Glen (Rita) Gardberg, and Joel (Esta) Gardberg. She leaves behind a host of dear friends, including many from Camp Ramah and her college years.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Max and Tedda Okun and Joe & Jenny Gardberg, as well as her aunt Sandra Simon Chenin and uncle Gil Okun.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chabad of Henderson, the Gardberg Charitable Trust, or the Jewish National Fund, organizations close to Mirabella's heart.
Mirabella, through her words, actions, and unwavering spirit, embodied the mantra, 'I am that you are free.' Her presence will be deeply missed but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of life is currently being planned for August 24th, 2024 in Henderson, Nevada.
