Morris
Krasnitz
May 7, 1927 — Aug 18, 2023
Morris Krasnitz (Morrie) passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on August 18, 2023 in Las Vegas after a brave battle with cancer. He was born May 7, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Lea and Akiva Krasnitz. At age 16, he joined the Navy during WWII, lying about his age in order to enlist. He served on a destroyer during the war and was honorably discharged. He spent his young adulthood as a light-weight boxer and later trained other boxers. Morrie was a member of War Veterans Post 21 and continued to serve his country by helping raise money for needy veterans. Morrie received an invitation to participate in the Honor Flight in Washington, DC, where he joined other veterans in a tour of the city's monuments. He was a longtime member of Chabad of Summerlin where he enjoyed participating in the Shabbat services each week and became popular for his rendition of 'Adon Olam.' Even after becoming ill, he continued to serve the Chabad community. In addition to his work in the Jewish community, Morrie was celebrated for his feature on the daily KJUL radio program where he shared his 'Joke of the Day.' His great personality made him a favorite among many Las Vegas entertainers and he often obtained show tickets for family and friends. He is survived by his wife Ruth, her family, his sons, David and Lee, and numerous stepchildren. Thank you to all of the family members and friends who supported Morrie with calls and visits. Donations can be made in his memory to Chabad of Summerlin. (Chabadofsummerlin.com/donate) Morrie will always be remembered by his favorite song 'You've gotta have a little mazel, cause mazel means good luck, and when you've got a little mazel, you'll always have a buck.' Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Bunker's Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 West Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV 89129.
