Obituary

Murray Israel Millander, beloved father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 84 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Murray was the son of Sadie and Stanley Millander and brother to Marilyn Finger, Alberta Hellman, and Cheryl Chapman. He is predeceased by all except Cheryl, who survives him. Murray's life was marked by brilliance, humor, and an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit. After earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cooper Union College in New York City, he began his career designing missile systems for General Electric. But it didn't take long for Murray to realize his true calling lay in building something of his own. He went on to found Millander-Wilke-Soman (MWS) HVAC in New York City, and later served as CEO of ENRGISTX, a company devoted to innovative solutions in thermal energy, waste heat recovery, and renewable energy for a sustainable world. He was a man of many passions, Broadway musicals chief among them. "South Pacific" held a special place in his heart, and anything choreographed by Bob Fosse lit up his spirit. If one song could capture the essence of Murray's life, it would be Frank Sinatra's "My Way"- he sang this often (and always in tune.) Murray is survived by his daughter Tracy Millander and her children Madison and Jason Benson; his son Lyle Millander, Lyle's wife Wendy, along with their children Samantha and Maxwell. His legacy lives on in their laughter, their stories, and the values he instilled. Known for his quintessential dad-humor, Murray had a knack for delivering groan-worthy punch-lines with perfect timing and a twinkle in his eye. His jokes, equal parts clever and corny, were a staple of family gatherings and a source of joy to all who knew him. That sense of humor, uniquely his, will be deeply missed. Murray lived a full and vibrant life. He loved and was loved. We are grateful to have been touched by his light. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM (Pacific Daylight Time) at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, located at 2697 E. Eldorado Ln, Las Vegas, NV. Murray did it his way. Though his voice is quiet now, his story continues in all of us.
