Nelson "Hano" Hiʻilei Hanohano, Jr., 64, of Kona, HI died on Sunday, March 1, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Born on March 1, 1962 in Hilo, Hawaii. His parents were Nelson Hiʻilei Hanohano Sr. and Ella Keala Hanohano. Siblings: Nohokula Kahananui and the late Bernell Hanohano.

Married to Abbie K. Hanohano on August 26th, 1989. He graduated from Konawaena High School in 1979.

He was the owner of "Whatever Kona" and was also employed at Walmart Kona, Hawaiʻi County, Surveyor at Wes Thomas Associates, Porter at Kona International Airport, American Airlines, Cook at Kona Surf Hotel; Bellman at the Keauhou Beach Hotel, and an employee at Kona Shell gas station.

He enjoyed playing many sports in his youth such as softball and paddling. He was a member of Kai ʻŌpua canoe club as well as numerous softball teams. He coached basketball and baseball teams for Mākaʻi and Tigers. He also coached both Kealakehe and Konawaena High School Girls Softball teams.

He is survived by his wife, Abbie K. Hanohano, Sister, Nohokula Kahananui, Mother-in-law, Marylou Nakao, Hānai children: Lish (Kaleo) Kam, Chrissy (Poe) Kimitete, Kahaunani (Brandon) Hernandez, Eric Rabara, Lelia Kanuha (Aaron Lloyd), Annie Rabara (Joey Kaeka), Kaninau (Chan) Kahananui, Godson, Pierre Kimitete, Goddaughter, Eleonore Kimitete, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Predeceased by Father Nelson H. Hanohano Sr, 1969; brother, Bernell Hiʻilani Hanohano 5/10/2016; Mother, Ella Lovina Kealaonapualani Mano Hanohano 12/27/2016; Brother-in-law, George Kinoulu Kahananui Jr. 5/19/2020 and Father-in-law, Toshiyuki Nakao 1/20/2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 31st, at Kahaluʻu ma kai (former Keauhou Beach Hotel property) with visitation time at 10:00 am and service to begin at 11:00 am.
