Pamela Sue “Pammie Sue” Hooper, 70, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026.
Pamela was born on June 28, 1956, in Greenville, South Carolina, to MSGT. Neal Daniel Hooper and Billie Mae (Neely) Hooper. She spent her early childhood in Savannah, Georgia, before moving to Acton, California, where she attended middle and high school. She later lived in Bakersfield, California, from 1978 until 1989, before making the Las Vegas area her home.
Pamela dedicated many years of her working life to the City of Henderson, where she worked in Building Permits. She was known for her warm personality, her love of family, and her enjoyment of bringing people together.
She especially cherished time spent outdoors with her loved ones. Pamela enjoyed camping and boating at Lake Mead and along the Colorado River. She also loved NASCAR and NHRA weekends, whether watching from home surrounded by family or attending races at the track. Holidays were particularly special to her, and she took great joy in hosting large gatherings and celebrations. Some of her happiest moments were spent during BBQ and pool weekends with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pamela shared many years with Raymond H. S. Johnson (Michael Ray). The couple were together from 1984 until 2018 and were married on May 5, 2001, in Henderson, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie Mae and Neal Daniel Hooper; her sons Wayne William Fire and Neal Daniel “Buddy” Hooper Jr.; her brother William L. “Billy” Hooper; and her brother James Houston Hooper.
Pamela is survived by her sister, Deborah M. Ferguson Carmichael (Hooper); her brother, Daniel Wayne Hooper; her daughters, Theresa Mae Fire and Sashene N. Powell (Johnson) and her husband, Christopher Powell; her son, Christopher Rafael Lopez; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Lynn Fire; and her grandchildren, Tyler, Charles, Nichole, Chance, Baylee, and Andrew. She is also lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Marcus, Dakota, Misty, Mikey, and Paislee.
Pamela will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her love of family, her generous spirit, and the memories she created through countless gatherings, celebrations, adventures, and weekends together will remain with them always.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
