Phillip (Phil) Dean Carter age 87 passed Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at home in Henderson Nevada.
Born August 10, 1938, in Harlington, Texas to parents Arthur P and Maude S Carter. Phil grew up with his brothers Paul, Michael, and sister Patricia as part of a military family traveling the U.S. His 35-year marriage to Eileen took place in Tucson Arizona on April 20, 1991. Phil graduated from high school in South Carolina and after some college started his career in media advertising with Scripps Howard Newspaper in Detroit Michigan rising to leadership positions in the 1960s and 1970's. He later became a ballroom dance instructor/teacher trainer, photographer/videographer and moved to Las Vegas Nevada to support the career of his wife Eileen in 1988. Upon the birth of his youngest son James in 1992, Phil became a devoted stay-at-home dad. He loved music, dance, hiking, nature, birds, photography, teaching/training, cars and the central coast of California. His favorite vacation spot was Morro Bay California particularly in the months of July and August. Phil was a loving husband, father and friend known for his creative talents, insightful and worldly intelligence, and engaging sense of humor. He was the "cool dad", a caring friend, a kind camera man, and a giving brother. He was a genuine partner in every sense of the word. He will be dearly missed.
Phil is survived by his wife Eileen, daughter Cindy and son Phillip (first marriage) and son James, as well as his sister Pat and brother Mike. He has nieces and nephews in Texas, Arizona, Massachusetts, California, and Louisiana. He was predeceased by his parents, and brother Paul (2017).
Cremation arrangements have been made through Care Cremation and Burial in Las Vegas Nevada. Celebration of Life gatherings will be informal with intimate family and friends at future dates and locations to be determined.
