Phyllis Mohr
Dougherty
Oct 10, 1936 — Sep 28, 2025
Phyllis Dougherty was born in 1936, the second of seven children of Reverend John Mohr and Gertrude Twietmeyer Mohr. Phyllis earned a Registered Nurse Anesthetist degree, which she counted as one of her proudest achievements. After a career of 50 years Nursing, Phyllis and her husband Richard (Dick) Dougherty of 41 years retired to Henderson Nevada.
Phyllis had many interests including music. She sang with the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society and the Guardian Angel Cathedral Choir.
Phyllis and her husband Dick sailed 15 years at sea on a small sailboat they called home. Her bucket list contained a cruise to Cuba. The time of adventure they had during those fifteen years filled her memories. Adventures we can only dream about.
Phyllis was a regular volunteer with her nursing skills for Veteran's Affairs, FEMA, Clark County Public Health Clinics, large local events that had a First Aid Station at concerts, racing events at Speedway, Rodeo events, any time she could offer nursing care and support to the community. Phyllis also helped with Ranch activities, inoculating calves, branding, and multiple chores only she had the imagination to accomplish in her lace finished bib overalls. All those baby calves were her pets.
Phyllis's lifelong personal presence lit up the room with her smile and warmth of friendship for all.
Phyllis was loved and cherished by her husband Richard (Dick) Dougherty, her parents Rev. John Mohr, Gertrude Twietmeyer Mohr, brothers Luke Mohr, Reverend David Mohr and sister Marguerite Mohr Kruse. She is survived by sisters Joyce (Bill) Steffenson of Waukon Iowa, Darlene Mohr O'Brien of North Liberty Iowa, a brother Dr. John Mohr of Boise Idaho and her precious cocker spaniel "Captain".
At Phyllis request no memorial services. Phyllis will be interned at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nevada.
