Rena Michelle Gleghorn passed away on December 9, 2024 in Las Vegas. She was an avid traveler whose career involved many aspects of the fashion industry, leading a life of adventure until losing her battle with cervical cancer at the age of 54. She was born on February 5, 1970 to Alfred Leland Gleghorn and Agatha Claudette Hart in Lakenheath, Suffolk England. This was only the beginning of Rena Michelle's world travels, which included many locations in Europe and the Caribbean, as well as living in New York, Los Angeles and Amsterdam. She enjoyed exploring new cities and meeting new people, moving easily from opera houses to underground clubs, high-roller rooms to backyard parties and charming everyone she met on the way. Rena Michelle's family moved to Las Vegas when she was young, where she graduated Valley High School in 1988. She studied fashion in college and had a wide-ranging career. In New York City, she worked for design companies as varied as Calvin Klein and Yak Pak, as well as in the costume department for a number of independent films and as a stylist for Comedy Central's The Man Show. One of the most important and exciting parts of her career was her position with the CFDA during the creation and early years of the 7th on Sixth fashion shows at Bryant Park for New York Fashion Week. After moving back to Las Vegas, she continued to work in film and theatrical costuming as well as in the bridal industry. Rena Michelle was predeceased by her brother Ricky Jeffrey Gleghorn, father Alfred Gleghorn and nephew Maks Leland Dixon. She is survived by her mother Agatha Gleghorn, (younger) sister Paulette Jamila Makela, and nephew Toki Merrick Makela, as well as her beloved dog Penny. Her ashes will be scattered and planted with a tree.
