Richard Harold Hagadorn, known as "Dick" passed at age 78 on January 2, 2025. Dick was surrounded by loving family & friends at his home in Las Vegas. Dick was born 7/3/1946 in Rochester, NY. Dick's deceased parents, Virginia Boyle Hagadorn Cometa & Harold Richard Hagadorn, were from Hornell, NY. They raised Dick & his sister,Judy Hagadorn Ash, in Rochester, NY. Dick is survived by his wife, Beverly Lewallen Hagadorn. They began their marriage in Foster City, CA in 1995. In 1998, they moved to Las Vegas to begin their Great Clips Franchise.
Dick has 2 children, Jennifer Small, married to Anthony Small of Roseville, CA & son, Charles (Chuck) Hagadorn residing in Las Vegas. Bev's two daughter's, Erica & Amy have grown to deeply love and respect Dick as their 2nd father. Erica Urling Shea, married to Christopher Shea, lives in Las Vegas with their 3 children They also love & adore their "Pa". Amy Urling resides in Williamstown, VT. Grandchildren include Noelle Shea, Landon Shea, Avalon Shea of Las Vegas & Sydney Houlton, Jennifer Small's daughter of Ithaca, NY.
Dick attended Catholic schools from kindergarten thru college. He attended St. Ambrose Elementary, McQuaid High School where he played on the wrestling team. After high school he went to Le Moyne Jesuit College of Syracuse where he was a left-handed pitcher. Dick remained a Syracuse Orangeman fan throughout his lifetime. Dick played senior men's baseball, pitching in 2 World Series. He was Commissioner of his son's baseball league & coach of his team for several years.
Richard's career in finance began in upstate NY where he became the youngest VP of Chase Lincoln First Bank. Later, he was recruited by Visa USA of San Mateo, CA. Soon thereafter, he was promoted from VP to EVP of Visa International, developing & promoting their Credit Product line world wide. After retiring from Visa, Dick & Bev built their Great Clips franchise business from 2 to 20 salons over the next 27 years in Las Vegas. Dick served as a member of Great Clips MARC, Co-op President and was on many committees and task forces helping to develop the Great Clips brand across the US & Canada. He was known for his strategic insights.
Dick's famous "Lean-in" stories have entertained friends, family & strangers in every corner of the world as he & Bev have travelled. Dick is known for his awesome sense of humor. Everyone says he's the best joke/story teller. Always… beginning his stories with "lean-in."
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, 11 am at Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Sun City Summerlin, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89134, 702-341-7800. Lunch will follow the service. The service will be streamed online… Details TBD.
In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Dick may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Wounded Warriors Project or charity of your choice.
