Obituary

Robert David Hernandez, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, at his home in Henderson, Nevada, surrounded by his loving family. Robert David was born on December 30, 1945, in Santa Ana, California, to Dennis Hernandez and Maria de los Santos Arcinaga. He was the youngest of four siblings.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before going on to build a long career with the United States Postal Service, from which he later retired.

On January 16, 1972, Robert married the love of his life, Arlene Hernandez, and together they built a beautiful life and family that spanned over five decades.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert was known for his unwavering love and support of his family. He was also famous among those who knew him for his die-hard devotion to the Los Angeles Lakers - you could always spot him wearing Lakers gear - and he was equally proud to call himself a Dodgers fan.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Hernandez, of Henderson, Nevada; his daughter, Kathleen Hernandez, and her husband Mark Gonzalez, of Surprise, Arizona; and his son, David Hernandez, and his wife Stephanie Hernandez, of Henderson, Nevada. He is also survived by his siblings, Ann Garcia and Jesse Hernandez; his grandchildren, Derek Hernandez and wife Stacey Hernandez of Surprise, Arizona, Chris Hernandez and wife Allison Hernandez of Surprise, Arizona, and Haylee Hernandez and Allie Hernandez of Henderson, Nevada; and his great-grandchildren, Ava, Evelyn, Eryxen and Devon.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Hernandez and Maria de los Santos Arcinaga, and his brother, Jimmy Hernandez.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A funeral service will start at 10:40am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with burial immediately following.
