Roosevelt "Raffie" DerOhanian was born on March 25, 1948 in Iran to Ratevous and Shoushan DerOhanian. He grew up in a loving household with 2 brothers (Ruben and Vartan) and 3 sisters (Nevart, Rosik, and Seda). As a young man, after graduating from high school, Roosevelt served in the Imperial Iranian Navy as a drafter, where he demonstrated discipline and a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life.
Roosevelt moved to the United States in the 1970's and eventually became a United States citizen. He was very proud of the fact that he was the first one in his family to go to college in the United States.
He married the love of his life, Izabel Kradjian, in 1980 in Los Angeles, CA. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two sons who he cherished deeply. Their older son, Edwin Raffie, was born in 1981 and their younger son, Artin Tad, was born in 1983. He was extremely proud of both of their accomplishments and the lives they built.
Roosevelt worked at Beverly Hills Cab, which he truly enjoyed mainly because of the friendships he developed. He started as a taxi cab driver and eventually became the Operations Director. In 2013, after retiring from Beverly Hills Cab, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Edwin married Adrienne (who Roosevelt cherished as his very own daughter) in 2006. Edwin and Adrienne had Roosevelt's first grandchild, Kevin DerOhanian, in 2008 in Simi Valley, California. In 2016, Edwin and Adrienne's younger son, Jackson Roosevelt DerOhanian, was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Grandpa Roosevelt was super excited to have a Grandchild named after him. Jackson could do no wrong in Grandpa Roosevelt's eyes. They were best buddies.
Artin married Nareh in 2012 in Glendale, CA. Artin and Nareh had their first son in 2019, Armand DerOhanian, in San Antonio, Texas followed by their daughter, Amelia DerOhanian, in 2021 in Glendale, California. Roosevelt was thrilled to be a grandfather to 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. Being a grandfather to three grandsons and a granddaughter brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
Roosevelt also had 4 nephews and 5 nieces, along with 9 grandnephews and 3 grandnieces. Roosevelt truly unconditionally loved his entire family. His favorite moments were when he saw his family together and hearing about his family members successes. The laughter and the stories filled the room up!
Roosevelt was a very kind, cheerful, adventurous, fun-loving, energetic, hardworking, open-minded, and deeply caring man who was loved by everyone who knew him. His unconditional love for his family and his ability to make others feel valued left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
