Shirley (Shirlee) Ann
Wilson Goodwin
Dec 29, 1933 — Jul 14, 2026
Laughlin, NVevada
My Wonderful One
My wonderful one, whenever I’m dreaming, Love’s lovelight agleaming, I see
My wonderful one
How my arms ache to hold dear, to cuddle and fold near to me.
Just you, only you, in the Shadowy twilight in silvery moonlight
There’s none like you, I adore you, my life I live for you
My wonderful, wonderful one
Dorothy Terriss

Shirley Ann Wilson Goodwin (Shirlee) was born in Ipswich MA on December 29, 1933 to Frederick Charles Wilson Sr and Hazel Lillian Page Wilson.
She passed away at the tender age of 92 on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 in her daughter’s home in Laughlin NV.
Shirlee was the youngest child of four. Her siblings consisted of her sisters Beverly Wilson Sclafani Rodriguez(deceased) and Barbara Wilson Atkinson Carolyn and her brother Frederick Charles Wilson Jr(deceased)
Shirlee and Frank Wilfred Goodwin Jr got married March 09, 1952, in Ipswich MA while Frank served in the United States Air Force. They had six children, Frank Gerald (Jerry) Goodwin, Kenneth Bryan Goodwin, Kathy Ellen Goodwin Hanson, John Wilfred Goodwin, Mary Jo Goodwin Kelsey and Bonnie Jean Goodwin Stone. Shirlee is survived by all of her children, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Multiple nieces and nephews and more adopted kids than the family can count.
The young Goodwin family moved from MA to Southern CA soon after their youngest child was born. From there the family moved to Shingle Springs CA where Shirlee insisted on finishing her education. She graduated from El Dorado Adult High School in January 1972 and worked as a bark sorter at Vita Bark for a couple years until she grabbed a live snake. That was the end of that job. She drove the high school bus after that, starting in 1970 through 1981. Shirlee and Frank opened The Cake Place where Shirlee made all kinds of celebratory cakes, pies and goodies from 1981 through 1983. After the closure of The Cake Place, Shirlee and Frank became apartment managers from 1983 through 2007 when Frank passed from respiratory failure. Shirlee continued to manage the apartments until 2010 when she retired.
During the last couple years of her managing the apartments, God granted her another love and after retiring in 2010 she moved to Vacaville to be in the same area as her long-time companion Bill Slade whom she met while in a bowling league. He succumbed to death from natural causes in 2022. Shirlee moved to Laughlin NV shortly thereafter to be close to her daughter.
Shirlee and Frank were avid bowlers and joined multiple leagues throughout their lives. During the years of 1969 through 1979, Shirlee was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Shingle Springs and the Sweet Adelines International where she traveled around singing in various competitions. In 1982 Shirlee and Frank joined The Order of the Eastern Star where she served in multiple chapters as Worthy Matron and many other offices. She was a member of the El Dorado Chapter for over forty-four years. When Shirlee moved to Laughlin, she made multiple friends through Bunco held at the Miracle Mile Event Center in AZ, played Bingo and went to lunch with those same friends, calling themselves the three Musketeers.
Shirlee will be interred at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery where she will be re-united with her husband of fifty-five years, Frank Wilfred Goodwin Jr.
