Obituary

Thomas Duncan Carlile (aka Dunc) a beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of seventy-nine in Henderson, Nevada on March third in the afternoon while surrounded by his loved ones. Duncan was born on July 3, 1946 in Glendale, California to Thomas Nelson Carlile and Joyce Barrows Duncan.

In 1952 Duncan moved with his father Tom, mother Joyce, and sister Janet to live on his grandmother's farm in Fresno, California. Shortly thereafter, the family relocated to Berkley, California where his mom worked as a secretary and his father as a magazine editor. Around 1956, they moved to Sherman Oaks, California. Joyce soon met Herb LaMers, who became Duncan's stepfather, and they were later married.

In 1965, Duncan moved to France to attend the University of Paris where he had the pleasure of learning French and exploring Europe. Upon returning to the United States, he got a job at the Van Nuys Theatre where he met his first wife Linda Luthy. They were married September 2, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple moved in together in Van Nuys and Duncan enrolled at the Valley College where he completed advanced studies in French and earned his Associates degree. In 1970 Duncan was drafted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1972 after serving at the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, California. Following his military service, Duncan got his first job in audio at JBL. This marked the beginning of his extensive and successful career in marketing and audio. He excelled in sales and spent much of his life passionately building audio equipment.

Linda and Duncan were blessed with a son, Clayton William Carlile on November 13, 1976. They were also blessed with a daughter, Madelyn Cathleen Carlile, born on June 27, 1978. They divorced after eighteen years of marriage but had a long lasting friendship and always supported one another throughout life.

His last marriage was to Doris Devereaux who passed away on June 13, 2019 with Duncan by her side in their Albuquerque, New Mexico home. Afterward, Duncan moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to be near his daughter Maddy and her family. He spent his final years grateful for the opportunity to watch his grandchildren grow up, enjoying his favorite restaurants, and attending performances by his favorite musicians with his family by his side.

Duncan is survived by his first wife, Linda Carlile; his son Clayton and his wife Brisa; his daughter Madelyn and her husband Eric; his twin granddaughters Ella & Irelyn (from his daughter's marriage to Eric); his sister Juliet La Mers-Noble and her husband Ken Noble, along with their children Catalina, Savannah, and Julian; and his brother Thomas LaMers and his wife Evelyn.

Duncan chose not to have a formal celebration of life and requested his ashes be spread in a place meaningful to him and his family. We warmly invite all of his family and friends to share memories of Duncan on his obituary so we can collectively memorialize them.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his warmth, creativity, and love of life.

We love you so much Dad. You will be forever in our hearts.
