Thomas Alan
Evans
Jun 6, 1955 — Feb 5, 2026
Thomas Alan Evans was born on June 6, 1955 in Dodge City, Kansas and passed away on February 5, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a courageous seven year battle with lung cancer.
Tom's parents were Phillip and Rosemary Lenz. When he was a toddler his father was killed. His mother remarried to Roy Evans who adopted Tom and his sister.
The family moved around a lot: from Kansas to California to Utah. When settled in Utah Tom attended school at St. Olaf Catholic School, Judge Memorial Catholic High School and graduated from Bountiful High School. He attended Weber State and the University of Utah.
It was in Utah that Tom met the love of his life, Ginger. They married on December 28, 1974 and shared 51 years together. They had three beautiful children: Desiree, Anthony, and John. Throughout their marriage they lived in California, Texas, Utah and then settled in Las Vegas, NV.
Tom was very talented and worked in many fields including service, plumbing, sales, management, and custodial. He worked for Commercial Plastics & Supply Corp. as manager in Las Vegas for 25 years. Tom was part of the Vegas boom years in the 80s-90s and helped build this city. He supplied plastic to Greyhound, YESCO, CES, the casinos and for political campaign signage. Any plastic you saw in this town during the time was probably supplied by Tom. Everyone knew they could call on Tom 24/7 for help.
Tom really enjoyed working with plastics and he would get the whole family involved. Tom would rattle off names and colors and quiz the kids on what kind of plastic things were made of. He could still tell you the color and product all over town. He really got a kick out of the Neon Museum and telling us the stories of the old days in Vegas.
After spending 30 years in plastics Tom decided he needed a change. He did building maintenance for businesses and apartments and then got on with CCSD in custodial services. When COVID shut down everything, Tom decided to retire.
Tom was involved in Scouting, camping, religious education, biking and cars. He loved camping and spent many years at Zion National Park with family and friends. He loved music and could play guitar and piano, but guitar was his favorite. Tom was a deeply religious man and always stayed true to his faith and beliefs.
Tom would always talk about how he had three fathers. He was born to Phillip and Rosemary Lenz. Phil died in a plane crash when Tom was a toddler. His mother remarried to Roy Evans. Roy adopted Tom and his sister, Jeanne. Roy died when Tom was 30. His mother remarried to Bill Robertson. Bill was an old family friend and Tom's first boss. Phil was his birth father. Roy was the father who raised him to adulthood. Bill was the Father/friend of his mature years.
Tom was preceded in death by his fathers Phil, Roy and Bill, brothers Mark, Greg, and Steve, his mother Rosie, and his son John.
Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ginger, children: Desiree (Don) and Anthony (Stephanie), granddaughter Ava, sister Jeanne, brothers Rick (Teresa) and Randy (Stephanie) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 12:30pm at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Tom's memory to The American Cancer Society, St. Jude's, Living Grace Homes, Christ the King Debt Reduction, Holy Spirit Catholic Church building fund, or Heart of the Nation.
