Wendy Lynne Sullivan Schaffer, born October 17, 1959, in Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully July 25, 2026. Wendy fought bravely over the last few months, but life is not fair, and cancer took her unimaginably quick.

While Las Vegas was her last city of residence, Wendy lived in many cities in the United States over the course of her life. Wendy made the best of her time with each location making lifelong friends along the way.

Wendy enjoyed a fun-loving marriage of 32 years with her husband, Mark. Together they enjoyed golfing, traveling, and everything Las Vegas has to offer. Wendy and Mark’s biggest adventure was raising their incredible son, Austin. They spoke everyday and were blessed to be the best of friends, not simply mother and son.

Wendy is survived by her husband, Mark Schaffer and their son, Austin Schaffer and the best daughter-in-law, Barb, her grandchildren, Daxxton and Ellyanna, both of whom were beacons of joy and life for Wendy.

Wendy is also survived by her mother, Gloria Sullivan, and her siblings, Christine Sullivan Peterson (husband, Kevin, and daughter Emilyann), Kelly Marie Sullivan, Terry Sullivan Jr., Amy Addis Farr (husband, Armand; sons, Broc, Connor and Durand), Patrick Sullivan (wife, Kelly Ann, children Avery, Colton, Ella, and Grey), and Kathleen Sullivan Niles (children Sarah and Tyler. Others in her life were her nephews, Clive and Lyle, and many friends.

Wendy was a life force the moment she entered the world. From being the oldest of the “gang of seven”, to traveling internationally for business, to operating numerous and varied entrepreneurial businesses, Wendy stared each challenge down with determination and grit.

Wendy is preceded by her father, Terry Sullivan (January 2021). We all know he welcomed her to heaven with a big hug and a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Dad instilled a love of country in each of us, and Wendy embraced it to the fullest. The family will be holding a private celebration of life wearing red, white, and blue.

The family expresses never-ending gratitude to Wendy’s lifelong friend, Joni Norton. She provided endless support and care to Wendy during her final months. With Joni, Wendy’s final months were most comfortable and peaceful.

The family also wants to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice for their gentle and benevolent care to make Wendy comfortable in her final days. Ther compassion not only helped Wendy, but also each of us on this journey.
