Obituary

Wilhemena Jones, a woman of a big heart and a spirit full of life, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 88 1/2 years old. Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, on March 18, 1937, Wilhemena was a firecracker, a force of nature with a quick wit and a loving heart. She was a straight shooter who spoke with honesty and love, and a true uplifter who could always find a way to encourage others. Her kindness was a form of strength, and she was a giver in every sense, providing her love, wisdom, and time to her family and friends. Among her siblings and dearest friends, she was affectionately known as "Sista."

Wilhemena had a deep love for the outdoors. She found peace and joy in fishing and camping, and her adventurous spirit led her to explore new places through traveling.

A loving wife, a fierce mother, a devoted grandmother, and a cherished daughter, sister, and aunt, Wilhemena was the heart of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Christine Walker; her husband, Jessie Jones Jr.; her son-in-laws, Cornell Thomas and Michael Ernest; her sister, Pamela Brown; her brother, Henry Walker; and her granddaughter, Brianna Thomas.

Her legacy of unwavering love and guidance lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her brothers, Edwin and Gary Walker; her sister, Catherine Walker; her children, Janice Ernest, Kevin M. Jones (April Jones), Tracy L. Edgeston, Miriam L. Jones, LaKelisa A. Thomas, and Jazzmine C. Jones.

Wilhemena's love extended to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren, including Antoine Jones, Chanel Hamel, and Jade Thomas, many of whom she raised as her own. She is also survived by a host of loved ones and friends who were blessed to know her.

She was the compass that guided her family, and her wisdom wasn't just in the words she spoke, but in the lessons she lived. She will be deeply missed, but the people we've become will carry her memory forever.
