Adrienne Smith Obituary

Adrienne Smith passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024, in North Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by her loving family. She was 58 years old. Adrienne was born on January 30, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois to Vivian and Kenneth Smith.

Adrienne grew up on the southside of Chicago, where she created fond memories, especially with her younger sister Tracy. Adrienne and Tracy were inseparable; they did everything together. They always dreamed of a life that was bigger than their own. The magnitude of Adrienne's imagination and vision would later surface through the publication of her first children's book.

Adrienne had great aspirations. After graduating from Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois in 1991, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, she pursued a career in broadcast journalism. She was a reporter for a local Chicago station for a short time, before pursuing another interest in travel. She served as a flight attendant for United Airlines for 10 years.

Adrienne was married in 1997. She gave birth to her daughter, Donovan Victoria in 1998. Donovan and Adrienne were the best of friends. They loved traveling together, shopping and going to museums and concerts. It was during the developmental years of her daughter when Adrienne developed a passion for working with children, which led to her return to college to earn her teaching certification. She was a beloved 5th grade teacher for nearly 20 years. Her students loved and adored her. Her classroom was a place filled with great imagination and possibilities. Every student that Adrienne encountered felt empowered to learn and were made to believe that there was nothing they couldn't accomplish. It was Adrienne's steadfast faith and belief in Jesus Christ that shaped her positive outlook on life, and the way in which she viewed people. One of Adrienne's greatest accomplishments was the publication of a children's book, Clavius: The Hapless Tooth Fairy. It was a story born of her creativity and God-given anointing to spread a message of possibility in a world full of contradictions.

A private service was held in celebration of Adrienne's life on February 16, 2024 in North Las Vegas, Nevada. She is survived by her loving parents, Vivian and Kenneth Smith; her daughter, Donovan Victoria; her sister, Tracy Smith; and a host of relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed.
