Janice Prenger Obituary

Janice "Jan" Eickoff- Prenger, passed away surrounded by family in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 19, 2024. We are selfishly heartbroken that she has been called home to heaven by our Lord Jesus Christ and all the angels and saints, but also take comfort knowing she is now free from pain and reunited with her parents, husband and sisters.

Jan was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo on April 3, 1941 to Bernie and Olive Eickoff. She was the granddaughter of former Missouri State Penitentiary Warden, W.C. Parker, and Lucille Spratley-Parker. Jan was a part of a large Catholic family. She was a remarkable faith-filled Christian and follower of Jesus Christ and loved her family and friends deeply.

In 1958, Jan married the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" Lee Prenger, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Missouri. Together they raised 4 children; Ricky Prenger (Dawn), Jeffrey Prenger (Cheryl Ann), Melissa Taylor (Bryan) all of Las Vegas, NV and Michael Joseph Prenger, of Jefferson City, MO. They were blessed with 11 Grandchildren, Ashley, of Rocheport, MO, Schyler of Columbia, MO, Savannah, of New York City, Dylan, of New Orleans, LA, Alexa, Samantha, Siena (Levelle) Gonzalez, Lenzie, Halle & Joshua, of Las Vegas, NV, Cameron of Riverside, CA, step granddaughter Ashley Fernandez-Henriksen of Las Vegas, 3 great grandchildren, Alex, Zoey and August, and 2 step great-grandchildren, Noelle and Lance.

There aren't enough words to express what she meant to us over the last 82 years of her life, she would have been 83 on April 3. Her zest for life and her unconditional love was the greatest gift she gave all of us and we will miss her dearly every day. To know her was to love her, she never met a stranger, she became friends with anyone and everyone who crossed her path.

She loved entertaining and having dinner parties, playing cards with friends, traveling with family, reading, music, and concerts and any kind of adventure. she never turned down an invitation to a party, event or Vegas show. She was an amazing cook and we cherish many special memories of our family Sunday dinners together. Her style was impeccable, she loved anything and everything "fancy"! Her sense of humor was contagious and her laughter filled every room she entered and brightened every occasion. If you wanted to have some fun, you invited Jan along and made memories to last a lifetime.

Jan/Mom/Nana loved the life she and Jerry created in Las Vegas, where they relocated to in 1990. She was a very successful business owner of a printing company for more than 20 years until she retired.

She was the most forgiving and positive person; her heart was filled with pure joy, and she could solve any problem for anyone. She had a heart of gold and always gave more than she received. She never judged people and loved them for who they were. She always saw the best in everyone and humanity, she lived by her Christian faith every day.

We know that she is now in a better place, free of pain from her ailing body, dementia, and sadness. We take great comfort knowing she is now reunited with those who proceeded her in death, husband Gerald "Jerry" Prenger, her beloved mother Olive Eickoff-Davis, father Bernie Eickoff, sisters Cherylynn Prenger, Margaret "Maggie" Eickoff-Loethen and brother- in- law Kenny Prenger.
Survivors include all of her children, grand and great-grandchildren, her sister Pam (Kenny) Kloeppel; and brothers and sisters-in-law James Loethen, Janice (Ronnie) Buske, Cheryl (Jeff) Thomas, devoted nieces, nephews and friends.

A Catholic Funeral Mass and visitation are scheduled at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 23rd at 11:30 A.M. A celebration of life and Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson City are also being planned for a future date.

During this difficult and sad time, we ask for your prayers for our beloved Janice, who is now in Heaven with Jesus Christ. She will be in our hearts, prayers, and memories forever, may she rest in peace.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
