Robert Brian "Bob" Matthews, 65, passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 6th. He was surrounded by his wife, children and future son-in-law.
Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Walter and Anne Marie Matthews (nee Corrigan). He grew up in the Kamms Corner neighborhood of Cleveland and was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Bob was a General Contractor by trade working in the industry in his youth and continuing his trade in Phoenix and Los Angeles before following his future wife to Las Vegas. Bob met his wife Adele Josephs in 1985 and the two married in 1991. The pair were together for a total of 38 years. They shared two children, Ariel (32, fiancé Austin Wasserkrug) and Robert J (25). His children were his greatest source of pride.
Bob was the 7th of 8 children and is also survived by his siblings Maureen Costello (husband Jack), Sheila Gesing (Julius, deceased), Margaret Collins (husband Kevin), Eileen Matthews, Thomas Matthews (wife Liz), Mary Barry (husband Jerry), and Michael Matthews. He was the proud Uncle to seventeen nieces and nephews, as well as being a Great-Uncle.
Bob was a Boy Scout, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a proud dual citizen of the country of Ireland. A life long lover of the ocean, Bob enjoyed nothing more than captaining his boat on the water. Bob's greatest loves were his dogs surpassed only by his love for his family. A friend to many, Bob will be remembered for his friendliness, generosity, and loyalty.
Bob's services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson, NV on February 27, 2024. A viewing will be held at 9am prior to the funeral mass, which will begin at 11am. All are welcome to join the family in celebrating Bob's life.
